PRACTICING POSITIVITY FOR FIRST RESPONDERS
Practicing Positivity is intentionally cultivating specific states of mind and heart. We use science as a foundation to emphasize the importance of the practice and motivate participants to cultivate these positive states. Mindfulness draws our attention to positive moments in our lives that might go unnoticed or unappreciated such as the completion of a project, a good training session or a fun conversation with a friend. When we intentionally notice and pause to “savor” or “memorize” these moments, we’re practicing “taking in the good” and rewiring our brain for happiness. This savoring or memorizing will be introduced during the gratitude meditation and we will dive deeper into how to integrate it in daily life throughout the training session.
