Course Description:
First responders often feel the stigma of seeking mental health treatment. This 60-minute webinar for clinicians will provide the low-down on providing mental health treatment to first responders. A board-certified psychologist with 20-plus years’ experience working with public safety agencies and personnel will share information. Ways to establish and maintain rapport with first responders will be discussed. The importance of cultural competence will be shared. Therapy myths regarding first responders will be debunked. Confidentiality as a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship will be emphasized. Common ethical dilemmas in work with first responders will be highlighted. There will be time for questions and answers.
